Human powered water skis have a long and eventful history. Hydrofoils have been in use in many human controlled watercrafts such as boats, wakeboards, and skis for over a hundred years. Over the years, the design of the basic hydrofoil has undergone drastic changes before reaching its present comfortable and easy-to-use form. Enrico Forlanini, an Italian inventor, made the first hydrofoil in 1906.
